Fireman, 1941

Johnny Murphy was destined to be overlooked on a Yankee squad that had the Yankee Clipper. 1941 happened to be the year Joe DiMaggio hit safely in 56 straight games. And the Boston Red Sox had Ted Williams hitting .406 that year, the last man to hit .400 in one season. The two destined to share 1941 together. However, even then, there was Johnny Murphy with a season for the ages of relief pitching!
