Firpo Marberry was great as a starter and reliever. Next to Walter Johnson, there was no one better on the Nats during the mid-20s. Sadly, many of those years he started to many games for consideration on my list. However, he was so far ahead of his time, it's almost scary to think what was made of him back in Firpo's time. He started five games in 1926, but came hopping in to help Washington 59 times that season. Johnson and Marberry: The Big Train And the Caboose!
One thing to note. It is unknown just how many games he blew, or how many times he held the other team in check. So Firpo's stats are incomplete. Mace Brown, the previous entry, had much of the same problems. So it is not known. Still, to not include them would be to deny us baseball history.

Notes
Marberry appeared as a starter five times.
Stanley appeared as a starter three times.
Brown, McDaniel and Wood appeared as a starter two times.
Beggs appeared once as a starter.
I've decided to include the starter stuff under all stats because it helps to show how effective the pitcher actually was. Today's relievers do not have that luxury, but they also generally get to pitch more. Give and take, baseball history.
