Old Satch Still Had It In 1952

Satchel Paige, one of the biggest attractions of the Negro Leagues from as far back as almost anyone can remember, was a young 41 years when he arrived in the bigs in 1948. It was one year after Jackie Robinson, and he had a black teammate in Larry Doby. The Cleveland Indians used both their talents to win it all that year.

But Paige was no less effective in 1952. At the age of 45, he put together a season that is worthy of my list. Old Satch simply did it all. He even started six games and got a shutout in two of them. But out of the bullpen Paige would come, night after night. And was Satchel ever effective!
