Henceforth, We Remember Danforth!

He came along before Firpo Marberry and ended up winning a World Series title with Chicago. And his year with the White Sox in 1917 is the earliest entry to my list (So far). But Dave Danforth was a good relief pitcher in his day. Of the 289 games he pitched in the 1910s and 20s, he started just 112. By comparison, he nearly finished that many games, 109. Dave's '17 season included 11 wins (6 in relief) and a league-leading 9 saves. Oh, and a World Series, too!
