Ward 4 In Toronto In 1992

Duane Ward didn't assume the stopper role in Toronto until 1993. Not that he wasn't effective. It was back in 1986 that the Jays got him for Doyle Alexander. Ward has a disastrous start for the Jays in a game that season where they were eliminated from the postseason. However, he might not have started many more games, and until 1993, finished 'em, but he contributed.

In 1992, Duane was setting up Tom Henke a'plenty! He would come in and pitch and inning or two, holding the lead for Tom, and then turned it over to him. Then, three outs later, Henke got the save. Ward had to settle for a meaningless hold. Well...Not so meaningless on my list, eh?
