Baseball History On Youtube: Vince Scully Tells You A Story...

The Los Angeles Dodgers had moved from Brooklyn after the 1957 season. Following a disappointing seventh finish in their first season out west, they were back in a big way in '59. The team went all the way. Funny, it took them two years to win in Los Angeles. Back in Brooklyn, they had one championship to show for Jackie, Pee Wee, Roy and Duke. Their move out west might not have been a popular one, but it was a jump start to championship glory with new blood like Drysdale, Koufax, Sherry,Wills (Replacing Pee Wee at short in '59) Fairly, and the old guard of Snider, Hodges, Gilliam, Podres and Craig. The 1959 Los Angeles Dodgers is often forgotten once Drysdale and Koufax really turned in on in the 60s, but they both found ways to make contributions that season.

So it might not have been a record shattering season for all Dodgers, but they set some that year. Koufax fanned 18 in a game on August 31st. The Dodgers drew over a record crowd to see game five of  that year's World Series. But the record didn't show that.

That, is, the spin record. Presenting to you the longtime (Long time) voice of the Dodgers, Vince Scully.
