Decan And Will Relieve In 1910, Part 1

Deacon Phillppe was a great starter first, and then he had a great season in relief. As a starter, he was there with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1903 in the World Series. By 1909, however, his days of going nine regularly were over. He was now doing double duty, starting and relieving. After helping the Pirates win the Fall Classic that season, he achieved immortality out of the bullpen in 1910, leading the National League in winning percentage (.875), and making my list! He still started eight games, showing plenty of flashes of his old glory. Deacon was a winner at whatever pitching role he was ever given!
