A Dayley Problem For Batters In 1987, Part 2

Now, for the meat and potatoes of Ken Dayley's 1987 season with the St. Louis Cardinals.

His save total was not impressive in 1987 (That, would come in 1989 when Ken saved 12 games). But Dayley found other ways to contribute to the Cards. In addition to his nine wins (9-5 record) and 4 saves, he picked up six holds, which is a pretty good total compared to others on my list from this time.

And Ken Dayley was a strikeout artist, fanning 63 batters in only 61 innings of work (Or 9.3 per 9). Strangely, in his best season, Dayley walked 33 batters, resulting in a WHIP of 1.393 in 1987. Despite this, Ken was a valuable member of the St. Louis bullpen from 1985 until 1990.
