Time Will Tell About Zack Littell, Part 1

Zack Littell didn't raise any eyebrows as a rookie for the Minnesota Twins in 2018. Making his major league debut on June 5, 2018, he got one rude welcoming. The White Sox pounded him for six hits and four walks in just three innings. He had to wait a month, and had an 0-1 lifetime record in one disastrous start. How about a relief appearance. Well, another loss. 0-2.

Zack made six more appearances in 2018, all in September. Things did, however improve as Littell posted a 3.71 ERA in those six appeances. He started a game on September 30th, went four innings, and allowed just two earned runs.

So how did things change for Littell and the Twins in 2019? For one, Zack pitched exclusively in relief. But he appeared to get things together. He pitched the seventeenth inning of a marathon game against Boston on June 18th. By the end of August he had a 2-0 record with a respectable 3.60 earned run average.

But September was Littell's best month. He went 4-0, upping his W-L record to a perfect 6-0 on the 2019 campaign. In the twelve innings he threw that month, Zack's earned run average was just 0.75.
