Beck(oning) The Giants to 103 Wins in '93! Part 1

Rod Beck had to beat out three other pitchers for the closer role with the San Francisco Giants in 1992. Despite a fine 1.76 ERA, he saved only 17 games.

But in 1992, Barry Bonds joined the Giants. They'd won only 72 games without him. With Barry, they won 31 more games in 1993! That meant more save opportunities beckoning for Beck! He blew six saves in '92, but only four the next year. He ending up saving one more game than his jersey number (Which was 47). But that doesn't tell you how dominating Rob was that year. Rob didn't allow the opposition too many hits, you see. After the four games he blew in 1993, he didn't blow another until 1995. Rob build on the success of this campaign and stayed in a role he no doubt very much enjoyed for the next four seasons in San Francisco.

But let me be the first to tell you, no season of Rob's was better than 1993!
