Dave Stewart is probably one of the most unlikely pitchers to end up on my list. After all, when you think of him, you think about his glorious days with the Oakland A's in the late 80s and early 90s. And as a Toronto Blue Jays' fan, I remember him from 1993. In the ALCS, he was 8-0 and beat the Jays almost every time (In the regular season, Stewart no-hit them in 1990).
But Dave had to pay his dues, as well. His career started out of the bullpen. After appearing in just one game in 1978 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Stewart was in the bigs for good in 1981. He 4-3 that year in 32 games, posting a 2.49 ERA. The following year, he was 9-8. The Dodgers traded him to the Texas Rangers in 1983, and he went 5-2 for both teams. His ERA was just 2.60, and Stewart finished 25 of the 45 games he pitched in relief.
