Quiz Nearly Had A Cy Young In 1983, Part 1

I'm rather surprised I'd forgotten about Dan Quisenberry. Just looking for one season that stood out among many by him is tough.

One of the top closers in Major League baseball from 1980 to 1985, Dan has several seasons worthy of my list. However, I don't believe any were better than 1983!

Quisenberry really worked that year, and it nearly paid off with the ultimate prize for a pitcher, the Cy Young Award. In only his fifth major league season, Quiz really did all the Kansas City Royals could have asked of him.

He appeared in 69 games, finishing an astonishing 62 of them. That's nearly 90 percent! And Dan worked hard in those games, as he averaged more than an inning per appearance, totaling 139.0.
