Smith Was Houston's Big Bullpen Ace In 1985, Part 1

David Smith had been in the bigs since 1980 with Houston. In 1985 he got his big chance to be the full-time closer for the Astros. Dave had 25 wins and 40 saves to his name from 1980 to 1984, but now those totals would be added to in a big way.

David won a career-best nine games in '85. And he appeared on the hill 64 times (All in relief). That, too, was a career-high.
