Lahti-Da In 1985, Part 1

Jeff Lahti had been pretty good in the St. Louis Cardinals' bullpen since 1982. He was 5-4 that year. The next year, Jeff was only 3-3 but his ERA dropped from 3.81 to 3.16. In 1984, he earned his first save, won four games, but saw his ERA climb.

Then came 1985, and the ship was righted!

Jeff won five games that year, but lost only 2. His ERA dropped, and he was given the job as a closer for a time. The St. Louis Cardinals won 101 games that season and made it all the way to game seven of the World Series.

Jeff was one of the reasons why.
