Oberg Is Enjoying Life With The Rockies, Part 2

So Scott Oberg of the Colorado Rockies was 8-1 in 2018. His record dropped to 6-1 the next season, but he contributed in other ways. Scott posted a career-best ERA of just 2.25.

With Wade Davis and other bullpen men struggling in 2019, Oberg got the chance to finish more games. In the eighteen games Oberg finished last season, he got a career-best five saves. After getting fourteen holds in '18, he fell to eight this past year.

But although Scott pitched two less innings in '19 than he did in 2018, Oberg actually fanned more batters (58 in 56.0 innings, compared to 57 in 58.2 innings the previous season). This was also the third straight year Scott topped 55 K in one season. His 9.3 K/9 was also a career-best.

As for walks and hits allowed per innings pitched, Scott actually regressed a little from 2018. That season he posted a career best 0.927. For last season, it was 1.107. For the second straight year, Oberg's wins above replacement was 2.4. The opposition hit just .196 against Scott in 2019.
