Beene Was a Clean 6-0 in 1973, Part 2!

I guess I'm going to have a little bit of difficulty justifying Fred Beene's 1973 season with the New York Yankees as belonging on this list. Part one of his '73 season wasn't too hard, but now for the meat-and-potatoes.

The bad? Just one save and not a single hold. Shockingly, Fred didn't have a single hold all season, although he picked up a career-high seven in 1974. Nor was Beene overpowering as he collected just 49 strikeouts in 91.0 IP (4.8 K9).

But how about the good.

There's Beene's excellent 1.68 ERA! The opposition hit a collective .209 off him (.271 OBP) in 1973 (6.6 H9). He walked just 27 batters (2.7 BB9). Everyone's favourite "New" stat, Wins Above Replacement also is very positive, as Fred posted a 3.0 WAR. His Walks and Hits Allowed Per Innings Pitched is very favourable for this era, 1.033.
